DBWI-Clinton Impeachment Fails

After the thrashing that Gore gave McCain in 2000? it was definitely surprising, even more so when McCain actually beat Lieberman.
YesI wouldn't call that entirely surprising I mean Al Gore was pretty unpopular by the end of his term I mean the Invasion of Afghanistan against the Taliban that was done in reaction to the Second Bombing of the world Trade Centre was really costly and achieved little. The Democrats were doomed to loose Congress in the 2002 Midterm Elections and did so by enormous margins. That Republican surge really helped Mccain.

What I find Ironic was that in 2004 Mccain would essentially criticize Al Gore and Joe Liberman as for making the wars costly yet Mccain's Presidency was essentially a Continuation of Al Gore's "War on Terror."

Gore was still pretty popular by the end of his term and that popularity only soared after we got Bin Laden; it was Lieberman who was unpopular.

Yes and remember that in the 2004 Primaries it was actually John Kerry who sealed most of the popular vote Liebermann was still chosen at the Convention.

It did alienate much of the Dem base that Lieberman was still chosen; especially since he was alot like McCain anyway.

I think Lieberman was screwed the moment Gore disowned him for "stealing" the convention in October through.

I would agree on that I mean
Yes but Mccain's victory in the Republican Primaries is actually allot less surprising than one might think as he allowed the GOP to take Congress

As for Liebermann's candidate choosing John Edwards as his running mate after Biden refused did little to sway the course of the election.

Well there weren't any better GOP candidates, so I guess it's not surprising that McCain got the nom again; but he would have lost had he not been facing Lieberman or had Gore not been term-limited.

Didn't Newt Gingrich take 24% of the vote in 2004 and Mccain gain 46% of the vote. I think that Gingrich may have had shot at the GOP Nomination if not for his marriages and if Ron Paul and Rick Santorum not joined. I also think that if Governor George Bush had joined he may have had a shot I mean he was the Spitting image of his father and somewhat popular.

On the Second Part I agree full heartedly.

Gingrich? his third party run got twenty votes in 2004; he's been a political outcast since his affairs.

Twenty Votes that is quite a bit of an underestimate Newt Gingrich got around 4% of the votes even a celebrity endorsement from Chuck Norris yet I doubt he could have changed the impact on the election. He appealed to a certain sort of Republican that appreciated him from his days in Congress.

It was barely a dent on the vote, considering McCain won by 150 Electoral votes and had a 10% advantage in the popular vote.

Indeed the 2008 election with Hillary Clinton was allot more close however and fancy her choosing Jerry Brown as her running mate we all would have thought his political career over.

But now he is Governor of California and she is President; funny how things work.

I know some people have remerged including Michael Dukakis as well he became Senator as well after Ted Kennedy's resignation in 2006 and is still serving as the Senior Senator from Massachusetts.

I wonder how the Daily Show would have been affected. The show became big mocking the trial, the impeachment, and helping enforce the backlash against the Republicans. Had Clinton not been impeached, would The Daily Show still have become the premiere comedy news show?

I think it still could have, Jon Stewart is a comedic genius - he would have made it work; the Clinton trial just gave it the opportunity it needed to tap into the country's anger and frustration at the whole stupid affair by providing some much needed comedic relief. I still remember Jon's jokes about Gingrich and his affairs and the absurdity of the trial; those are comedic classics really.

I assume Senator Bill Clinton would have never happened had he not been impeached however.

I am not so sure New York was Democratic Stronghold the Clintons still may of been elected.

I think that Newt Gingrich lost most of his creditability in 2000 he chose to step down as Speaker of the House maybe he would have kept his position if not for the Impeachment.

Three?! I can only think one... Who am I missing?

Scott Walker in Wisconsin (while I despise his policies, he did nothing illegal, and the polling place violence was deplorable) , and Donald Carcieri of Rhode Island (a little more justifiable) .

What? Bill was elected in Arkansas.
