DBWI: Chinese Empire Survives

As we all know, the Chinese empire collapsed permanently after the fall of the Tang dynasty, as the last empire to claim jurisdiction over Tianxia, had their capital razed to the ground by the Hui(muslim) kingdom of Jiang. With the dawn of the Chinese Union, and the nations of Reben (japan), Jin and Wu at its head, some say that this is the Chinese Empire reborn as a larger, supernational entity. But what if the Chinese Empire, or any kind of Chinese state claiming the entirety of Tianxia survived to the modern day?

The world economy and science in general would be retarded. Like in europe the competition between countries created an explosion of ideas and with time the formation of a functional capitalist, rule of law and now mostly democratic region.

(Mongols are the exception )

What would this mean for us? Well we might not have the internet in 1920, and the race to colinize the solar system wouldn't have happened. The Tang and empires like it brought stablity but it came at the cost of shackling the genus of the chinese people. In the end it just isn't worth it.
