DBWI: China developing nuclear capability.

GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain has recrntky expresed concern over China's research into military applications of uranium and plutonium, as well as delivery sistems that are fairly advanced.
Your thoughts on this? I don't think the chibese are crazy enough to use them...

At least they're developing the technology openly.

Or re-developing it, anyway, if you're idealistic about damoclespolitik.

Well this is a fine kettle of fish, looks like the Russians will hit their nuclear program again, though they will likely keep their airstrikes conventional unlike last time

Is it really that surprising after Belgrade? (I know it didn't get a lot of press in the West because of Taylor Swift's plane crash, but Jeez.) When the SDECE got its hand caught in the cookie jar like that, the Ruskies probably thought good and hard about the risk of La Communauté cozying up to their little buddies in Beijing if they didn't ease up.

No one could have predicted the november 11th strike against china, the idea of a comunist country attacking another comunist country was unthinkable in the capitalist world. They always seemed like a unified block, I'm glad their keeping it conventional this time around it took decades for china to recover from last time.

Maybe they won't? I mean, yeah their relations have frayed (again) recently, but the current guys in charge are still a hell of a lot friendlier with the Soviets then Mao was with Zhukov back in '62.

Don't be so callous. The Chibese are a proud people with a rich history.

I'm still surprised how soon the various Japanese statelets developed national identities after the collapse, Chiba especially. One day it's rich Tokyo suburbs and hinterland, the next they're an independent ultranationalist state.

Chiba's heavy investment in the high tech industry was what pulled it through the worst of the last decade and gave it a more realistic shot at autonomy.
