DBWI Challenge : English Ireland

Create a world where the English were able to Conquer the Irish Empire instead of the other way around. I would say having the Romans colonize England instead of Ireland might have been a good start.

How would the Romans get to England though?
They were getting their arse kicked every time they set foot in Germania, getting all the way through there and up to England would be hard.
I guess they could go by sea but...whats the point?
England was nothing special nor was the nearby Friesland and Juteland. Skandinavja even today is pretty resource poor. Certainly nothing to interest the Romans.

Britania (as they called Ireland Major) though was just over the channel from France and they had political reasons to go there.

As to Ireland conquering England- that never happened.
King Ael the 4th of England (I think it was the 4th anyway...he was the 1st of Ireland) actually inherited the throne of Ireland due to his grandmother being the eldest daughter of...Craig VI? Or was it Keven III? It went back quite some way anyway!

Why would the English (or Anglish or whatever it is spelled) be interested in Ireland anyway? Maybe if they weren't beaten by the British when they tried to invade Britania. They could have started a Anglish state there, but I doubt it could become strong enough to dominate the entire island, let alone threaten Ireland.
Still I got an interesting idea. If the invasion of the Anglish hadn't weakened the British kingdoms, maybe the Irish wouldn't have been able to establish a foothold on Britania.

OOC: This thread! щ(゚Д゚щ) They were only dimly aware (if aware at all) of Hibernia's existence, and Britannia was well known for its tin. There would be little benefit in conquering Ireland, except to prevent pirate raids on Britannia, but with no Roman Britannia...

A better POD might be the complete conquest of the british isles, and the introduction of then-modern agricultural methods and market towns to Roman Hibernia, so while Britain suffers the germanic invasions, Hibernia is relatively prosperous.

OOC: its meant to be semi-serious.:D

It would help if England could go more than 200 years without a wave of invaders landing and installing their own country. The Saxons, The Danes, The Normans, The Dutch, The Irish, The Spanish, The Venetians, and finally, The Germans all landed on this highly balkanized island.

Meanwhile, Ireland is an industrial powerhouse that becomes a major colonial power in North America. The PoD would have to be something like 1066, where the Normans entirely occupy England, instead of grabbing a small piece of it and creating ever more little armies and nations to squabble while Ireland grows larger and more powerful.
