DBWI: Call to Duty: Contemporary Warfare

So Call to Duty: Contemporary Warfare came out a few days ago, and I have been playing it non-stop. All I have to say is that I LOVE the single player!! Like really, it puts you in all of today's hotspots with perspective from the British Empire, American Marines, Sovs, and a few other nationalities.

**********SPOILERS***************************************

Ok, so in the first level, you start at out as a soldier in the British military from the D. of Australia, trying to help defend Portuguese Timur, and it's invaded by some unamed "Third bloc nation"(obviously Indonesia). You totally get overran, and then defeated. But that's just the prologue; there are alot of other cool viewpoints, from Angola and South Africa to Guyana and a ton more( i haven't finished it yet!). There are some other really cool scenes, but I won't spoil those for fear of ruining too much(FYI-->nerve gas=fail). The plot is pretty cool, it's basically the Third Bloc funds some crazy dictators and terrorists in trying to overthrow some colonies. It's political though, I mean I know in the states at least there is alot of anti-colonial movement, and I heard the Chinese have banned it. The game kinda depicts them as the bad guy anyway, though, because it's OBVIOUS that they're the unammed Asian baddies of the third bloc. BTW I thought it was hilarious how the game depicted Americans as all with deep southern accents. I wasn't so much offended as I was amused. Anybody else loving this game!

I loved the mission as a Canadian Expeditionary Soldier caught between two angry mobs of Afrikaaner people claiming to be Neo-Boers and wanting their land to be theirs instead of British and the other mob of angry black people demanding a recount of a separatist vote that would allow them some traditionally 'Boer' lands. It was non-stop action. Mob from the north! Mob from the East! Mob from the West! Mob from the top of the building! Mod from the sewers! Mob from the South! Fight to extraction with remainder of fellow Canadians!

I really liked the feel of the stealth missions (two or three run together, for those that havent played).

I really liked that the CIA had only a bit of intel that reported the nefarious groups were meeting in Cuba. You know, not whos involved, just a vague location.

And that made me think it was the Commies at first, but when you get to the meet (after a cover-of-night amphibous dropoff at none other than the Bay of Pigs for christsakes!) you find out its just weapons deals and stuff.

I mean, Castro wasn't even there. I wanted to cap his ass, but I settled for knocking out the Sri Lankan Prime Minister later. That was awesome...

I liked the game... It deviated from the Second Great War setting of it predecessors and gave us veteran CtD gamers something new. But then again, WHY DID PI WARD HAVE TO KILL OFF LIEUTENANT CASH???!!!!

OOC: Pi Ward= OTL's Infinity Ward
Lieutenant Cash= OTL's Captain Price

The setting of "Contemporary Warfare" judging by the snippets here and there sound like they'd make a good TL any taker?

I love the multiplayer also. I love the British bullpup(the EM-4), and I always customize it with a handle in front to make it even MORE accurate, and then run around getting headshots. I especially love the level in the American Embassy in Venezuela, and one team blows up the wall and storms the place and the other one has to defend the Ambassador. So cool.

I like to play a narco terrorist in Marroco. It's the only mod where you can fight against the EUF.
