As we know TB12 is considered by all as the GOAT QB. Especially the 49ners faithful, the 6 SB rings he has brought them (more than Montana and Young combined).
Of course, while the 49ners seem to have a knack for an assembly line of great QBs, they actually missed Brady, he was drafted by and played 2 years in NE and was actually the starter in the 2001/2002 SB season when Bledsoe got injured. Per Bill Belichick, he actually would have started Brady in SBXXXVI ahead of OTL MVP Bledsoe had he recovered* from his AFCCG injury. Which led to Brady's trade in the off season.
Of course, Drew Bledsoe had a great HoF career and the Pats would repeat the next year (with Bledsoe MVP again), but they missed the GOAT!
The conventional wisdom is that the Pats got a better deal, they went to SBXXXVII and SBXXXVIII and although yes they lost to Brady's Niners in the latter, he was not the finished product in '02. No way he could have led the winning drive Bledsoe did at 17-17 in the 4th Quarter in SB36, the 40 yd bomb for a TD. At least not then, and though he has led many game winning drives, Brady is no gunslinger, which is what was needed to win. Disagree, I think Brady could have won it.
Of course Peyton Manning would not have had those SB defeats against Brady, he would have never have reached a SB. And no Eli to NE in '04.
