DBWI: Bonaparte's Legacy

I was reading a History book about former President Napoleon Bonaparte by reknowned Historian and former president Ward Churchill.

Any thoughts on his legacy?

oh...probably above-average.He expanded American territory into South America, but he had to do alot of un-ethical things do to that. The best example would be the Burning of Mexico.

Also, he flip-floped on Slavery quite a few times. He was all set to abolish it when he backed out at the last minute.

Historically important, but a moral failure.

How does this make him different from any other elected politician?

Well, he's not a President you would put alongside, say, Steele or Bismarck, but certainly better than Calhoun or (shudder) Vanderschmidt.
