If that bomb exploded, coupled with the rudder damage, then Akagi would have probably been on fire just like Soryu and Kaga, and her torpedo planes wouldn't have been there to attack Yorktown in the first strike. The US vessel would have probably escaped with just bomb hits.
As it was, Akagi managed to steer with her engines and launched commander Murata's 17 kankos escorted by 3 Zeros at 11.15, joining Hiryu's strike.
Akagi was also instrumental in the crippling of Hornet, her 16 kanbaku (one damaged by dud's fragments) scored the crippling hits that slowed and exposed Hornet to lt. Tomonaga's torpedo planes.
However during the afternoon US strike Akagi couldn't avoid being hit by the SBDs from Hornet and Enterprise, some of them redirected by the message from Enterprise after Nagumo's fleet was spotted by Yorktown's search SBD. The bombs caused large fires among the 10 kanko and 3 fighters being prepared for the third strike. Only Hiryu managed to launch her aircraft at dusk of just 15 kanbaku (5 from Akagi), 3 kanko and 9 Zeros.
