DBWI Benedict Arnold doesn't go to the Barbados

George Washington was skeptical about Benedict Arnold's proposal to take up privateering in the Caribbean, and if he had said no his career as a pirate would never have taken up. What would Arnold have done otherwise? And how would this have affected the American War of Independence?

OOC: yes, according to the biography of Arnold, Valiant Ambition, Arnold really did propose this in 1778 but got turned down.

Well, maybe with an actual general and some actual, you know, leadership, the "independence" would last more than three months. Arnold dying so early on was a tragedy for the American rebels. Though I doubt the Atlantic Colonies could all stay united even if they weren't reabsorbed into the British Empire, the sectional differences were just too strong, and across too clear geographic lines
