Just been confirmed by Comedy Central, Barack Obama, long running host of The Daily Show, has announced that he's planning to leave after this current series. Rumours are abound in regards to what he'll do next, with some saying he'll try and run for some political office in New York or Illinois although I can't see it happening.
Guys had a bit of an interesting career even before that. Used to do by a community organiser and teacher of constitutional law in Chicago until he travelled to New York for a seminar where a few people noticed his wit and attention to politics. He got involved with The Daily Show first as one of its correspondents, accepting the job as he felt he was able to deliver a view of black America that would have otherwise gone unnoticed.
Once Craig Kilborn left the show, it was down to either Obama or Jon Stewart as it who would takeover and a meeting with executives led to Obama thinly getting the nod. Considering the man once thought running for public office, it's a wonder how well he could have done with that career instead of the twenty years he's done as host of The Daily Show.
So, how do you think he did over these twenty years? Any favourite segments or jokes? Or any thoughts on his long running 'feud' with both Clinton administrations for his scathing criticisms in regards to what he perceived as their use of African-Americans and their economic policies. Any thoughts on who might take over now that he's stepping aside to pursue other activities?
