Some people say that the Treaty of Damascus that ended WWIII made a fourth war inevitable, just like how Versailles led to WWII and Paris led to WWIII. The factors - economic troubles across Europe and Asia, political dissenters in the Eastern Bloc, radical parties in France and Britain, racial tensions in the US, religious schisms in the Middle East - are myriad, and caused such a chaotic decade that I can't even imagine getting around it.
What could have gone differently to prevent WWIV? Preventing the partition of Poland? Averting the rise of the Front Syndicaliste in France? Wallace defeating Reagan in 1972? I can't see any one way to avert WWIV that isn't pure ASB
