Could modern society have developed in the Pininsular Continent (TTL name for Europe) and not the Connected Continents (TTL name for the Americas)? I mean when the first explores reached the New world many of the places had just reached the nation building stage, bows, arrows, axes, and metal working.....

ooc: another try to start an idea that jumped in my head. Nations rising in the americas from the natives instead of Europe and the middle east etc.

Beringia, the subcontinental plain that existed covering Alaska, Eastern Siberia and what is now the Bering Straits during the Great Ice Age. The humans who settled the americas came from there and were split from the core of humanity during said Ice Age from what we can tell.

It's just not possible. The problem is is that the humans who lived on the CCs had things like the Greater Llama as a pack, work, and travel animal. The PCers only had things like ponies. Now, maybe if they had a bigger version of the pony, that might have helped them out significantly. Unfortunately, such an animal never existed OTL.

Not to mention the nutritional value from the farming of various CC animals such as snakes, buffalo and turkeys far outstrips farming things like chickens, goats and cows. More nutrition = less time spent subsistence farming = more time developing technology and culture. Not to mention that Lesser Llama wool has proven much better as a clothing material than Sheep wool. Warmer clothes = more ability to survive winter.

The PCers just got the shit end of the stick, unfortunately, which is why they're in the Third World situation they're in now.

(OOC: Butterflies + better pre-historical breeding in Western Hemisphere results in better animals for "Old World". )
