DBWI: Arabs win at Yarmouk

While researching the Byzantine Empire, I encountered a reference to a battle in 636 at the Yarmouk River. Followers of a self aclaimed prophet in Arabia, had a very good chance at winning, but the Roman General Vahan decisivly beat them, and ended the Arab threat for good.

What would happen if the Arabs had won? and what would the affects of thier Religion spreading be?

I don't see their religion spreading. They probably would have converted to Christianity like other invading barbarians did. Maybe the Levant would speak a dialect of Arabian if they'd won.

The Empire was pretty run down at the time, so they might have had short term success. Can't see the empire letting them keep Syria if by some fluke they managed to conquer it though, and that's as far as they might be able to advance. They'd break up like every other barbarian group.
