So I haven't been able to put the new Jeff Greenfield novel down "Weapons of Mass Destruction," a dystopian alternate history of the past decade which theorizes what might have happened had Bush won in 2000 if Florida was in dispute. The story continues up to the present day. Truly terrifying, what did you guys think?

Standard sensationalist drivel. Bush wouldn't have been a bad President, he had solid, experienced advisors and was a mild-mannered fellow. He also did some good things in Texas, including reaching across the aisle on a regular basis. While some of his ideas weren't great (privatizing Social Security, are you kidding me?), he would't have been all that bad. There is no way he would have invaded Iraq, everyone knows there is no link between Al-Qaeda and Saddam, as a matter of fact they hate each other pretty strongly.

And then some unknown guy named Obama becomes President in '08? I looked him up. He is Representative from Illinois.

Actually given who his planned VP was and that his father had invaded Iraq, and some of his advisers supported it he may have, especially given how badly the CIA fucked OTL under Gore with intel, I can sort of see this

What I do not see is him breaking out the nukes, hitting Baghdad, Tikrit, Kabul, Basra and what not, no way

Jeff Greenwald's a hack, trying to portray Bush as an absolute monster to make Al Gore's fuckups look like roses and daisies in comparison. I mean, he'd have to with the onset of the Second Great Depression in 2006, you know, that event triggered by the fifty billion dollar collapse of Al Gore's NY Carbon Credit Exchange which uncovered the Christmas Tree jury rig of the 2003 Dodd/Frank Housing 'Reform' Bill, the death of Fannie and Freddy and the first domino of Bear Sterns taking down Lehman taking down ING and ING taking out... well... EVERYONE...

Yeah... it's a Dem dream piece about how the Reps would be responsible for a worse dystopia than OTL!
