DBWI American Forests Not Gone in WWII

Would the postwar housing shortage have been so bad if the forests of Washington State, CA....heck, most of the American West and Canada too, not been burned off by Japanese Balloon Bombs in 1944-5. Would most of our houses today actually be made of wood instead of steel?

Well, the Japanese were pretty angry at the December 7th strke on Hawai'i, so when they started their strategic bombing campaign... Maybe you could have them lose? Though that's a cliche and not really that interesting. Still, I don't think they can win anyways, except Operation D-Day. (Where'd the ships come from? Mississipi Barges?) No, the Germans and the Japanese were set to win from Day One...
However, you need the Japs to rethink their strategy... Maybe have them focus on tactical bombing? But that would be stupid...

Ironically it worked out for the best once they developed compounds to make adobe bricks viable even in damper climates. Now we have more forest in the US(and Canada) than we did since the 1700s and at least one continent is environmentally secure.

Would sure probably cause more problems from Earthquakes. And it also kept the US steel industry in business for a long time, didn't it? The forests recovered quite fast, and really they are gonna end up being lusher than ever in a century or so, just because so much fertilizer from dead wood wound up in the soil.

OOC: I might be naive in this regard, but as far as I know trees don't affect earthquakes in the least.
