DBWI:America wins the Cold War

OOC: wasn't Wrangel a pretty liberal general in OTL who was a constitutional monarchist? This makes about as much sense as it did in Kaiserreich.

IC: Ah, I see. No arguments there. Good thing Russia wasn't a democracy, as he was certainly popular enough to get elected!

OOC: He was certainly in on Russian nationalism; and there are plenty of fairly right-wing people, the likes of Brusilov and even those as left-wing as Prince Lvov, who were happy to work with the autocracy for quite a long time until the various extreme screw-ups of Emperor Nikolay II, Empress Aleksandra and Rasputin convinced them that the autocracy was so incompetent it had to be got rid of for Russia to achieve nationalist goals. TTL lacks even the limited democratisation of 1905 with the October Manifesto, let alone the more comprehensive concessions later; it has been hinted that the Russo-Japanese War either didn't happen or was a Russian victory, and that Nikolay II wasn't on the throne for long, hence the references to Emperor Mikhail (in OTL Grand Duke Mikhail, Nikolay's brother).

OOC: True, I suppose.
IC: So by the way, how does everyone feel about the Kaiser naming his daughter heir apparent? It's amazing to see how far civil rights for women have come.
