From 1941-1949, the American President was Burton K. Wheeler, who was a staunch isolationist. His policies led to America not participating in the Second World War, and as such Germany overran most of Continental Europe and forced Britain to make peace with it. It wasn't until the Republicans returned in 1948 that America began to participate in foreign affairs, leading to the 50-year "Frozen War" between Germany and the US.

What if America did participate in the Second World War? A possible POD would be Wheeler not being nominated in 1940, but who could be sufficiently internationalist enough to get America into the war?
