DBWI:America gets the Bomb first

What would happen if the Tunguska project failed to successfully test the worlds first Atomic Bomb in September 1943 and is stalled long enough that the Manhattan Project(which finally detonated a bomb in July 1945) was the first to produce an Atomic Bomb?

Well it would probably butterfly away the Imperial Commando's Strike on the manufacturing facilities in 1944 for one

Well, the Soviet Union probably wouldn't be able to grab Western Europe and the war there would drag on for a bit. America would also be less likely to bow to communist expansionism, but sooner or later the tables would even.

The US would have been able to prevent the satellization of Eastern Europe by the USSR. After the end of the war, one country after another fell to Communism until Europe was divided by what came to be known as the Iron Curtain. Obviously, had the US got the bomb first, this wouldn't have happened.

Without the destruction of Berlin in January 1944, the Great Patriotic War would have continued even longer. This would have allowed the Nazis to have completed their own Atomic Bomb project, which would have been devestating to all of the freedom loving peoples of the European Soviet.

(OOC: this is not necessarily true. I'm afraid that my ATL alter-ego is influenced by the propaganda produced by the education system in the Peoples Democratic Republic of England).

Cheers,
Nigel.

OOC: Soviets getting the bomb in '43. is extremely ASB. You would have to accelerate pre war advancement of atomic theory several years, make USA blind to possibility of bomb and in meanwhile get someone very important in USSR to get completely in love with idea. And still with OTL very difficult situation of fronts in '41. and '42. it is ASB for Soviets to have resources to do it by then.

Well, it is important to recognize that the elephant in the room is: What if Germany had attacked the Soviet Union in the first place? Stalin probably had the project running for a decade...and that was the right answer for a paranoid man with no end to his enemies.

And the only man he ever trusted was Hitler, who proved to be the man to trust. Clearly, the way to get this to happen is to get Germany to Attack the Soviet Union, instead of the Soviet Union and Germany allying and divving up the UK.
