DBWI: Alexandros of Makedon was not betrayed?

So, as we all know, the young king of Makedon Alexandros 'conquered' the empire of Pars, but was betrayed by a conspiracy of the Andragorid satraps who ended up forcing him to flee across the steppes with the few soldiers who remained loyal to him, as written in the Alexandriad (also known in Maqiduni as The Secret History of the Yauni).

So, what if Alexandros Xenos has remained in Pars? Could the young king have remained on the throne of the King of Kings?

(OOC: This is inspired by the Alexander in Korea thing I read long ago.)

I suppose all that would have been needed would be a heavier hand with regards to his rivals. All in all, his greatest failure was his leniency and unwillingness to firmly shake the foundations of the empire he usurped. Alexandrus (Forgive the Latinisation) was more or less just another pretender, all the evidence from his brief reign seemed as if he saw himself as some sort of successor the Old Kings of Pars. So perhaps he should have greeted his enemies less as new subjects with an open hand and more like a true conquering Rix. A few well placed executions, seizing of property; this would completely offset the dominion he set up but in the long run controlling however much he could unquestioned would have been better than to have the whole thing but sitting on a throne of vipers as per OTL.
