Easy, pull the Carriers back from Pearl after the initial attacks. The Japanese Admirals' decision to hang around and try to catch the counter-attacking US carriers was a huge mistake.
Sure, US lost Saratoga, Lex, and Yorktown, but Japan lost Akagi, and more importantly Zuikaku. The US would always have been able to outbuild the IJN, but it would have taken time, and with greater naval strength, perhaps their campaigns in Java might have gone smoother, and they would have had more ships to throw into battles to buy time.
Without most of their capital ship fleet sunk, the US might not feel as urgent about the PTO, and Germany wouldn't have held out so long with more US attention on them. Husky might have happened in 43 instead of 44, and D-day in early 44 instead of September.
