DBWI AHC: The Beatles breakup in 1970 and the Rolling Stones are still together

The Beatles are about to celebrate their 53rd anniversary as a band. After seeing their most recent concert at Madison Square Garden, it is hard to imagine anybody else as the "World's Greatest Band." Last year, the Beatles charted with their 50th US #1 hit record.

What would have to happen for the Beatles to breakup in 1970, just like the Rolling Stones did that year (to say they imploded would be an understatement)?

Considering that Mick Jagger's solo career was a disappointment (with the exception of his 1979 #1 worldwide hit "Miss You"), would Paul McCartney have fared better with a solo career?

I don't see how the Stones could have stayed together after Brian Jones' death, you'd have to butterfly that. Brian Jones lives and Sir John Lennon dies, how about that?

Highly unlikely.

The Beatles were perfection as a unit. Why would they break up? They put out hit after hit and even let Ringo and George sing sometimes.

And the Stones still together all these years later? With all the hard core drug use? Mick was a prima donna. Richards couldnt possibly have lived past the 1970's with everything we took.

Holy shit, you used to do drugs with Keith Richards? That's hardcore, right there. I respect that.

I couldn't see the Beatles break up, to be honest. However, if something could cause greater tension between Lennon and McCartney in the 1960's, I could possibly see the Beatles dissolve.
