DBWI AHC failed Nixon presidency

Are you smoking the good stuff? Harper won the Liberal leadership in 2004 and became PM following the 2009 election. Sure there are people who make such accusations against him, but they're mostly the folks who left the Liberal Party back in the '90s. You know, Trudeauites. They're just bitter about being largely irrelevant ever since St. Pierre got tossed out back in the '80s.
Yeah, 181 NDP seats in 2014 worth of irrelevant.

I know you guys are still hissy that Harper got nailed for the same kind of corruption Chretien did, but all this waxing poetic about bitter anti-Harperites obscures the reality that Canada's middle class suffered under Harper and Chretien's austerity policies. So far Prime Minister Layton has done a good job rolling back the Chretienist legacy but at some level the damage is already done.

Buying the Super Hornet was a decent move by Harpo, at least.

Let's not forget how President Glenn brought peace between the Israelis and Syrians. Now, the latter is one of the most prosperous in the Middle East!

Good thing he survived that shot to his leg . If he hadn't, maybe the nationalization of the healthcare system would have never happened.

That was one of the policies I disagreed with. Regardless, he was a man of principle

I was listening to the Bloomberg show last night with Governor Alec Baldwin. Apparently Nixon was what inspired him to leave his failing acting career for politics. Which is a shame because he's a great actor he just is got stuck with so many cult classics.
I hope he does well with his presidential bid.

Make his involvement in crashing the Paris Peace Talks clear.
Okay, so you're talking about a possible misstep. I can appreciate that.

Interestingly, the possibility of such came out in a recent bio. Apparently, one of his aides suggested that he use an intermediary to communicate to South Vietnam's Thieu that he would probably even get a less good deal with Nixon as president because a new Republican administration have to do some things to placate American conservatives.

Dick angrily said, "No, no, no."

And then he calmed himself and said, "Let me tell you a little about poker. You know, I'm a fair to middling poker player, right? [Actually, Dick Nixon was an excellent poker player!] If we attempt to transmit a message to the government of South Vietnam, just the attempt and the context, nothing to do with the actual content, it will be perceived as us asking them to hold off. Will at least raise that question and therefore that delay in their mind. And sure as hell will play that way domestically. No, this is a live wire we don't touch with a ten-foot pole."

Buying the Super Hornet was a terrible decision considering that no one but Canada uses it. They should've just bought F-14E Supercats* instead and used the billions saved to buy new gear for the other branches of the Canadian Armed Forces.

*OOC: In this timeline, Congress decided it would be cheaper to upgrade the F-14 rather than develop an entirely new fighter (the Super Hornet).

That would've worked fine if the Supercat's swing-wing mechanism didn't freeze all the time in the Arctic. Remember the Alert test flight crash?
