DBWI AHC : Evil Adolf Hitler

Surely he'd have to shave off that silly square mustache. It's so iconic of folks like Hitler or Chaplin I don't think any villain could be taken seriously with it.

Well, he was a well-known and outspoken pacifist - what if Germany got involved in a war against a truly horrific dictatorship (perhaps with their worst deeds not known at the time), and Hitler was a conscientious objector, opposing the war? Then, after the crimes of the nation in question were revealed, Hitler would seem like an apologist for such a regime?
On the other hand, this isn't really making him 'evil' per se; just misguided and misinterpreted - which, with a fellow like him, is probably the worst you can get.

Also just realized, we're neglecting another factor: Anti-Semetism.

Before you grab the pitchforks, bo of course I'm not insinuating that Dolfie was some crazy Jew Hater. Well, he sort of was - before the Great War though. He even admitted it himself, considered it the thing he was most ashamed about his youth. Of course serving alongside Jews in the trenches helped snap him out of his bigotry. But what if he somehow retained that hatred?

The man's commanding officer who saved his life was Jewish, along with his family doctor growing up and many of his friends in Vienna.
Do you really think a person can just wake up one day and say "I hate this random specific group"?

Side note:
If you can't tell I've recently read Hitler's autobiography.

I'm just not seeing it. I mean, maybe he could have some moment that sucks the humanity out of him the way it did with Stalin losing his beloved Kato, but not everyone can or should have a supervillain backstory. The worst I'm thinking of is that he has some skeletons in the closet, and to think such a kind, fatherly man is secretly hurting people is...well, a lot of dissonance.

OOC: Hitler's staff actually did describe him as "fatherly" so at least to those close to him, he wasn't without humanity.

Perhaps a more traumatic time in the German Army during the Great War? That crap would've destroyed anyone.

He was fortunate enough to avoid being gassed; given that even a monster like Stalin called mustard gas "inhumane" I can't imagine it would have left Hitler in very good shape.
