DBWI: A European Nation undergoing a Communist Revolution?

I know nowadays when someone says "Marxism" the first thought is of Fez wearing Indians waving the red flag but as most of us know Communism came from Europe the sworn enemy of the UAI ((Union of Anti Imperialism)) and given that it's the twentieth anniversery of the Kashimir revolt I thought I would propose a question. Could a European, or even a non-third world country have a communist revolution?

It's possible, but difficult. You'd have to have some sort of society-shaking cataclysm, that manages to wreck the position of the established elites enough that radical ideologies like Communism are able to overthrow it while it's down. I'm not sure how you'd do this. My first thought is some sort of general European War in the 1900-1920 period. Basically, stuff like the Balkan Wars, the Polish War, the Portuguese Partition, the Tunisia Crisis, all the minor crises and Power-to-Power struggles that characterized the early 20th century would have to be compressed into a single event. I'm not sure how you could do this, given how devoted to the status quo and the balance of power all the major powers were at the time, especially Britain. Nothing is more threatening to the balance of power than a general war, and the entire system of international relations would have to completely break down in order for it to happen. Paradoxically, you'd need to have the powers trust each other more. No one's going to commit to a modern war without the certainty that they'd have other powers at their back, and no one trusted each other enough for that during this period. Hell, even nations that we normally think of as the best of friends, like Italy and Germany, had very conflicted relations at times, and the Berlin-Rome axis that held constant through much of the struggles of that period was largely due to the fact that it was only tested once.
