DBWI: 60 years since the Thrid Reich's collapse

Well... police clash with protesters across the world as traditional May Day marches turn violent over the current global economic crisis; Sweden becomes the seventh country in the world to recognize same-sex marriages nationwide; six people are killed in an attack on the Dutch Royal Family as a car driver crashed through crowds watching the annual Koninginnedag celebrations; a new strain of influenza is suspected of infecting approximately 5,000 people worldwide, causing deaths in Mexico and the United States; and at least 12 people are killed in a shooting spree at the State Oil Academy in Baku, Azerbaijan.

(OOC: This isn't a DBWI. This is OTL.)

I'm confused with this whole DBWI terminology. I mean, it used to be a "we are inside this world, what if OTL happened instead", and since then I guess it has become a generic "RP" term.

But Detroit is right...this is OTL. And I can't figure out what to say.

OOC: 60 years ago, today, was May 1, 1949, so, it isn't OTL.

Most political leaders would say that we have been stunted in the face of isolationism and fear over the past 60 years. As a society we could have had greater technological advancement, especially in the face of the 120 million deaths caused by German biological weapons(c.4/1949), worldwide. Second, the continued Soviet domination of the European continent would have been averted, thus preventing the deaths caused by the Soviet leadership from Stalin all the way to Zhirinovsky.
