It's been 3 years since the series Sliders (FOX-TV/ SCI-FI) ran its final episode "When the Journey Ends..". Considering that series has become the "longest lasting American science fiction series", what do you think were some of the secrets to its longevity? What were the some of the best episodes and/or story arcs? What do people think of the latest made-for video/DVD films?

I suppose it was inevitable that they brought back Wade for the DVD films.
all said, they managed to avoid some of the more glaring idiocies (no "oh look, its a Xenomorph world" here; and no "run, its the Sandman" like Special Unit Two had)
granted, Sliders is one of the rare shows that has more Virtual Seasons among fans than even Babylon Five and Stargate.
Personally, the moment that sealed it for me was in the fifth season where they decided to stop running from the KroMaggs and make a stand to defend the Earth #161. While this certainly meant returning home would be indefinitely delayed, it changed the mission of the group, and it also gave them to more fully develop a single alternate world. When the defense collapsed at the beginning of season seven, you could almost feel the crushing weight of their defeat....
