The Great Revival, and beyond
I suspect that the Great Revival wouldn't have happened, and Russia wouldn't have had the terrible revolts as so many rabble rousers claimed that this was a sign that God didn't aprove of the Tsars. This revival swept the world as a sign of God's wrath--and a warning.
Yet, even though it triggered the greatest resurgence of religion, would we today be flying through the asteroid belt today? It was only the realization that this was something big falling from the sky that inspired the arrogant Yanks to look to fly among the stars--and the Great European War that gave them the money to do it. Parasites, to sell anything to anyone, and use their leverage to insist that we couldn't stop supplies bound for Germany, just because they were going to "neutral" nations first. Then to insist that these debts be paid in full, on time--and in hard currency. Who ever heard of refusing Pounds Stirling, and demanding specie? The pound wouldn't have collapsed were it not for them
Two centuries ago, jumped up colonies--now dareing to say that they rule the spaceways. Would our iron industry have collapsed if they weren't delivering it from the asteroids?
Tragic as Saint Petersburg was, the Great European War was far worse, and I suspect that, without THAT, we'd be out around the asteroids along with the Americans.
