DBRealityCheck: This map?

So I was playing around with a blank world map the other day, and came up with this. What I want to know is, is it at all possible?

Before you judge, yes, I know this looks like a huge Russia-wank, but I really do think this might be possible. If you all can come up with the right POD, I might write a TL about this.

OOC P.S. Sorry about the huge map. I am not good with computer.

Please provide some narrative to go along with the map. Whether the map is possible, let alone plausible, depends on the PODs involved and the flow of events moving forward from there.

Hey, I remember that! It's from Steve Jackson's Stars & Stripes series. You didn't make that, btw.....unless you're Steve Jackson. Are you Steve? :p

OOC: Sorry, but one of my biggest pet peeves is these DBWIs where some random dude comes up and claims they wrote OTL, or something.

How did Uruguay build a world spanning empire?

What world spanning empire? Uruguay isn't even colored on here. :p

hm the Kingdom of Hawaii still around or is that a Republic? ;)

It was a state, both IOTL and ITTL, but it looks like he's modified the map a bit.

What's up with that big mess in the Balkans?

You should see what happened in the '50s & '60s IOTL. Serbia(A Soviet ally) and Croatia(a NATO/U.S. ally/puppet) nearly went to war, twice, over Bosnia. It was only thanks to the creation of the Second Republic of Yugoslavia in 1971 that that mess finally ended.

@Joey: If you want a Russia-wank, look to S.M. Stirling's "The Czar and his Empire". POD's in the 1770s and doesn't include OTL's U.S. of America but it was surprisingly plausible.

I have a few questions for you:

1) How did Germany get so small?
2) Why do the Russians own that land around Königsberg?
3) How'd the Aral Sea get so small?
4) What's going on in Palestine? It looks like a civil war to me, what with those 3 nations in that area.
5) I'm going to go with the others and ask what's going on in the Balkans. It looks like you got a bit colour-happy there.
6) It looks like you like butchering countries. For example: China - independent Mongolia and Formosa; India - independent Ceylon, Bengal, Sindh, Baluchistan, etc.; the split Korea; Austria's even smaller than OTL; no Scandinavian Union; etc.

I do like the reasonably-sized Ottoman Empire, though. So many people wank it to the extreme, while you only made it a bit larger.

Have you ever read Stars & Stripes? :D

Also, a couple of problems: Austria here, is actually larger than OTL's, and there hasn't been a Scandinavian Union since 1947.

I'll give you a couple of spoilers, though: like OTL, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are part of one nation, but unlike OTL, it's not actually recognized as such.....and there's no Ottoman Empire, either(Not to mention that OTL's Ottoman Empire ceased to exist after the civil war over there after WWII anyway.) ;)

That dark brown country in northeastern Africa is completely unrealistic. You should divide it in two.

(OOC: I couldn't resist. :p)

Even though South Tirol is nominally an independent state, it might as well be part of Austria based on how close they've gotten in recent years. I know the SU split up, but they're still so close and it's so common to bring them back together that it's strange seeing a TL with them staying apart.

What's that second nation between them? I mean I know times in Palestine are rough, but they've managed to stay as one state ever since the fall of the Ottomans. Yeah, but Turkiy and the Ottoman Empire are so similar, it's like there never even was a transition.

OOC: Not quite sure where we are with a POD at this point, but I was going with alt-world wars and nothing similar to the Holocaust, so there's not as much international support for an Israeli state.

That and that Belgian Congo state should be split up. I don't see how they could stay together, what with all the violence in those areas.

You do have a good point concerning the Tirolean Republic and Austria.

As for the former Soviet Union, there has indeed been a fair amount of support for the formation of a greater "Russian Federation" of sorts but it hasn't quite reached the Duma just yet. However, though, There does remain a stumbling block, though: Neither Turkestan, Tajikistan, nor Armenia want any part in this. The Federation could still form, it might just have to occur without those states(and given that Turkestan in particular's been run by Islamists since 2002, that's probably not a bad idea).

I was reading a lot of S&S before I made this, but look closely. There are some real fundamental differences.

OOC: Understood, but this is just for fun. Isn't that what all DBWIs are for?
