With the results of the 2016 presidential election in showing the 22nd consecutive Democratic win in a Presidential election, one starts to wonder if this was an inevitable path for American politics. Democrats have continuously held the presidency since 1932, and, with only a few exceptions, have controlled congress as well. Your challenge is to find a POD, after 1932, to stop this, and give America a competitive political system. One often proposed POD for this is to have Dwight Eisenhower run for president as a Republican in 1952, as he was apparently largely undecided on what party to run for. I don't think this is very realistic, however. Eisenhower was a strong believer in internationalism, and the Republicans showed themselves to be fairly isolationist in 1948, when they nominated Robert Taft.
