The United States of America's entry into WWI on behalf of Germany was arguably one of the most influential events in the whole conflict, and later influenced world history. The Americans established a hegemony over the Americas through the Organization of American States and maintained dominance across the Pacific (and later the entire former British Commonwealth) with the League of Britons.
So is there a way for the USA to join WWI on the side of the Entente? Many Americans actually didn't support Germany and, in my opinion, it took the sudden utilization of chemical weapons by the British and several acts of aggression to cause the US to warm up to the Reich. Does anyone have a different opinion? Was the election of Alanson B Houghton in 1916 the most influential factor?
