DBAHC: Make the United States Align With the Entente in WWI

The United States of America's entry into WWI on behalf of Germany was arguably one of the most influential events in the whole conflict, and later influenced world history. The Americans established a hegemony over the Americas through the Organization of American States and maintained dominance across the Pacific (and later the entire former British Commonwealth) with the League of Britons.

So is there a way for the USA to join WWI on the side of the Entente? Many Americans actually didn't support Germany and, in my opinion, it took the sudden utilization of chemical weapons by the British and several acts of aggression to cause the US to warm up to the Reich. Does anyone have a different opinion? Was the election of Alanson B Houghton in 1916 the most influential factor?

Well, having Woodrow Wilson win re-election in 1916 could be a good way to have a Entente-aligned US, albeit as a pro-Entente neutral, not as a full Entente member. Anyways, what would the long-term impact of the US joining the Entente be? Would a defeated Germany have gone down the same path of radical nationalism as Russia and Britain or would it have taken a turn towards radical socialism like France or Italy>

Germany was the source of radical ideologies, such as communism, and was also pretty industrialized so I foresee a communist Germany. This means that this TL could still see a Cold War between the US and leftist Europe, however, rather than the Federated Latin Commune controlling Europe a communist Germany does instead while America is allied with the exiled British and French empires instead of Mittelafrika.

At least it would probably be a more simple two-way fight instead of the three-way cold war between the German-American-South Chinese "Alliance of Free States", the Communist Federated Latin Commune, and the "National Populists" in the Restored Russian Empire and the Chinese State.

If only North China (or "Zhili China") would stop threatening the Republic of China every other day with "nuclear destruction".

Eh... I don't see the Tsar lasting too long and once he's out it's either communism or a republic which could easily go Nat-Pop. Would it be revanchist like OTL Russia? Not if the Russians win WWI, but a Pan-Slavic movement could still exist.

It's not like the South is much better. In fact, the AFS wasn't really ever democratic (I mean, we all probably know that). The US was a military junta since the riots in the 30s and stayed that way until Reagan took over and established the United Briton Republic out of the Anglosphere.

And like Savinkov's regime historically, restore the Tsar (or one of his children, like what Savinkov did with Tsarina Olga I) as a puppet to buy the support of reactionaries and aristocrats.
That, or the Tsar would never abdicate in the first place and just be forced to hand over the keys to the government to Savinkov.

I heard that Nicholas II originally planned to place his cousin (Michael Alexandrovich) into power. Perhaps the Russian people ittl would like a change in leadership enough to live under monarchial rule?

Maybe, although I think democratization is inevitable. That being said, reforms could be held back a few years if Russia is successful enough in WWI.

Would Patton still establish the American military junta in this TL? Or would butterflies keep him from becoming president?

OOC: Eisenhower's too young to be an American military dictator in the 1930s. I'd recommend either Douglas MacArthur or George van Horn Mosely.
