DB: Happy Constitution Day, Britons!

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the ratification of the United Kingdom's first ever codified constitution?

So what do people think? How well do you rate the Blairite Constitution's effectiveness?

Personally, I applaud it, and I see it as one of Tony Blair's greatest achievements. Without the introduction of Article III (Limited Federalism), and Article V (Voting Reform of the Lords), its debatable as to whether the union would have survived at all!

The Old System worked fine as it was; the huge amount of Tory criticism that followed was justified, in my opinion.

Tories were just as involved in the constitutional convention, and its telling to see that since the 2005 election, they've been willing to accept the Blairite constitution.

And sure, the old system may have worked in the good times, but it lacked safeguards for the bad times. And seeing as last month saw the first run on a British bank since the 30s, its likely that there are bad times on the horizon...

Personally, I think it would have been better with a right to remain silent and a right to bear arms, like the US Consitution has.

 Seriously? The second ammendment only ended up in the US Constitution by a historical accident, and has been nothing but trouble since.
