DB Discussion: China refuses to recognise Taiwanese independence

OOC: This is actually one of the more consistent DBWIs we've had in recent years, despite some gahh-ery. Good work, everyone.

China would use all their resources in order to re-claim Taiwan by 1990 in ATL (If Taiwan had declared independence). Probably China would invade Taiwan in all cost and war would broke out if KMT will surrender to the CPC and after the war, China would emerge as a winner and Taiwan would restore as a province of China in ATL unlike in OTL that Taiwan is a separate entity.

Hmmm... I've always been wary of the PRI's claims - certainly since the fall of the USSR, they seem to have lessened their ideological bent. It's far from 'Communism in name only' as their supporters claim, but until Bardhan took office it wasn't unusual for them to be to the right of the Russian Federation (surely a case of 'Communism in all but name').

And it still doesn't change the fact that Armchair Republicans are still using the phrase 'Soviet' to refer to all of non-Chinese Asia when in fact it referred to one state that ceased to exist in 1973 and a few of its long-defunct (okay, not Poland or Armenia, sheesh) satellite states.

Well, this certainly doesn't change the fact that the Indian government continues to utilize the same political and military tactics that their Russian counterparts used in the 1950s and 1960s. Just look at their brazen takeover of Sri Lanka in 1948. After the inauguration of the Aryabhata space station in 2004, one would think that Americans would take India's military threats seriously, especially in regards to China...

OCC It's a discussion in which we pretend we are in the ATL,and analysing it form the ATL perspective not the OTL one.

Back on track, the Gerald Springer (D) Administration is trying to deny reports by former press secretary Steve Wilcos that the administration is willing to recognize the secession of Taiwan. On his "Final Thoughts" radio address from the Oval Office, Springer has said that he is outraged by this "betrayal of trust", stating that the statement is false and that the administration will stand behind the regime in Nanjing....Any thoughts?
