This may butterfly the Reformation as we know it, but maybe do something with the Lollards? OTL they had some success even among the nobility; John of Gaunt in particular was a big fan. Have them be more influential in English society, and you could lay the groundwork; have a situation akin to the Waldensians.
I mean, OTL there were significant English Protestants; people often forget they were a non-negligible force even into the 1600s. Maybe if you have someone other than Henry VIII as the king; someone less firmly attached to the Catholic Church.
