David Cameron captured by Taliban after chopper shot down ?

Wow at the vitriol. I mean, dude's a douche but come on.

In any case, there's special forces mobilisation for a rescue mission if they can find out where he is. If not, and if he's killed, leaving Afghanistan just became political suicide. People will demand revenge.

A douche is putting it mildly, though I think many would feel the same way about Blair and Thatcher. I personally think Thatcher is more deserving of such a fate considering her crimes. Anyway its harsh but true, there is no way Britain would withdraw from Afghanistan over a single politician. The prime minister is basically the same as if the majority leader of the US house of representatives fell into enemy hands (what would the US response be if Eric Cantor was taken instead?). They aren't elected directly like the US president, and isn't the head of state, and the position isn't held in as high regard in Britain. Special Forces would be sent in, smaller concessions might be granted (like releasing thousands of Taliban prisoners) if the Taliban are willing to bargain but if not the British government will be fine with his head being separated from its body and using his death for political gain.

Along those lines, a more interesting scenario might be if the Queen or Barack Obama were taken instead. Both are more important symbolically.

Am I the only one here reminded of Black Mirror and the fate of the Roman Emperor Valarian?

The U.S threatens to drop Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, the Jersey Shore cast, MTV and Fox News CEOs, Westboro Church Members, Michael Bay, and Charlie Sheen into the Taliban HQ Base. Hilarity and celebration ensues.

If that happens as you say, then suddenly the Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat, Scottish Nationalist, Plaid Cymru, Greens, and maybe the Ulster Unionist and Sinn Fein parties will suddenly all find themselves awash with new candidates and campaign funds from PACs out of nowhere with oddly harsh stances toward India and Israel. In Middle Eastern and Central Asian minds, Britain has just shown the same sort of disloyalty towards their own that when demosnstrated by the Moghal Empire way back when permitted the establishment of the RAaj.
