What the Expedition had been given more support and resources from the start, such that fitting out is swifter. the Expedition departs somewhat earlier than OTL and is not beset by the storms of OTl that gave it such an arduous journey. On arrival off Nova Scotia..the expedition is not as beset by sickness and the Duke himself does not die after spending a brief period re-provisioning in Chedbucto Bay by the Acadians it sets sail, rounding the south of the peninsula and in combination with De Ramezay retakes Port-Royal.
the British cut off from supplies from NE in the Minas basin are forced to surrender.
The goal of retaking Acadia is a success, but Louisbourg is still in the hands of the British.
Aix-la Chapelle, gains the following changes...the NS peninsula is returned along with the islands of the Bay of Fundy. The Maliseet and Passamaquoddy are recognized as under French protection. Louisbourg is as OTL exchanged for Madras
With complete royal authority over the whole of Acadia The French undertake to redress the shortcomings of the fort at Louisbourg and improve defenses on the landward side. In addition the French begin construction of a smaller fortified port on Grand Manan island to guard the approaches to the primary settlements of Acadia on the Bay of Fundy.
the diplomatic revolution still ensues, but the strategic situation for the British will change somewhat when the subsequent French and Indian War erupts mid 1750's. Acadia will likely be the primary focus but the Br. will have to start from bases further back rather than in NS.
