Hey Guys,

In 1469 the Danish pawned the Orkney and Shetland islands to Scotland as part of a dowry payment, the agreement was that, once the dowry had been paid in full, the islands would be given back to the Danes. However the Scots, obviously, reneged on this agreement and, despite numerous appeals made by the Danes over the next few centuries, the Norse laws were done away with in 1611.

However, what if the Danes didn't put up with this and went to war with Scotland? Whether it's after they pay off the dowry or maybe even by joining the English when the Scottish declare war on them during the War of the League of Cambrai?

Let's say the Danish King in the scenario is willing to go to war over the islands, who wins? The Scottish Navy was never up to much and I can imagine that, whilst the Danes weren't powerful either, they may be able to gain some kind of naval dominance?
