Danish-Russian war

The planned Russian invasion of Holstein by Peter III. Say Prussia is defeated and dismembered earlier than OTL, Russians celebrate a victory, get parts of PLC for Prussia and then Elisabeth dies and Peter inherits. What was the state of the Danish army at the time? Was their navy strong like in the 17th century? Possible Russian gains, if and how they win? And would the foreign powers take part? Sweden wasn't really strong at the time and worn out by the war so they probably couldn't take Norway alone. But their and Russian navy combined could take on the Danes, right?
So, thoughts, comments etc.

bumping again cause it fell off the page. And also, any effects on the Danish internal politics? Bernstorff, Moltke and so on...

I have the comte de St. Germaine as one of the characters in one my timelines.

He was a distinguished French General in the 7 Years War (and others) who was appointed commanding General of the Danish Army after the 7 war and was in charge of defending against the Russians.

Denmark had a competent army. They stayed out of the 7 Years War as they didnt' have a dog in the fight and made profits from both parties.

Denmark got subsidies from both sides at various points to stay out. They were big winners in that war.

Per wikipedia, "They also avoided involving Denmark in the European wars of his time. The country remained neutral even for the duration of the Seven Years' War (1756–63), despite its proximity to combatants Russia and Sweden, an act which undoubtedly shaped the perception of the period as a happy time."

in 1763, Denmark was outnumbered but the Russian Army was far from home and had long lines of communication. I can't believe Russia would have any allies to help.

Possibly Austria might step in to keep a foreign power from mucking about the Holy Roman Empire.

It would have been an interesting fight.

King Frederick was dissolute and left everything to his minister, Moltke.

His last words were, "It is a great consolation to me in my last hour that I have never wilfully offended anyone, and that there is not a drop of blood on my hands

Umm actually the Russians didn't have long lines of communication, though far from home. The Russian Army meant for the invasion numbered 40,000 men and they were positioned in the Duchy of Holstein-Gottorp, which as ruled by the Russian Tsar. The war was intended to be short and had limited goals. The Russians only wanted to take Schleswig which is not very big and is right across the border from Holstein-Gottorp. The Russians would have short supply lines and lines of communication. The Russian Army was also very professional and it was led by Rumyanstev. And Rumyanstev was a far better general then St. Germain.

now it's getting interesting :D
I read somewhere something about the Danes having 70 000 soldiers altogether at the time. Is that correct? And could the Swedes join? As I said, Prussia defeated means Sweden getting back their part of Pomerania. It would surely improve the Hats' power and maybe they would declare war on Denmark with the Russians' encouragement? But does anyone know if Peter would even want Swedes joining. OTL he made a deal with them but mostly it was about them being neutral if I'm right. And they were quite worn down and the British could always step in. So there's that.
