Danish Netherlands?

I was playing Medieval 2: Total War (yes, that legendary bastion of historical accuracy;)) the other day, and I noticed that Denmark would always end up controlling Holland, if not all of the Low Countries. Is there a point where something like this could actually happen?

Vikings raid and hold on to the Netherlands from then? Sweden controlled much of North Germany, just the Danes doing the same in the rest. Just put it in a steppingstone as they go off to the British Isles and Normandy.

The best way would be to find a qway to let a danish king inherate it. If you change a few marriage alliance.

...what?
Which had nothing to do with then already nearly a millenium past viking raids:confused:

(Though of course Adolf Gustavs army was just as every bit as barbaric and atricious *spits*)

The Netherlands was a Republic. There is no way to inherit it - theyd just get rid of the office of the Stadholder (which they did now and then IOTL) to prevent foreign domination. So, no inheritance possible.

I was thinking of the geographic area and not Netherlands as a state, like when Habsburg inherite it.

You're right. Apologies.

...is it showing I like history and alt-history but I'm not very good at it?

Does Habsburg Denmark count as a possible scenario? I've read Philip the Handsome had some interest in marrying a Danish princess before ending up with Joan the Mad.

Just the Netherlands or can it stretch around the coast taking in bits of Germany too?

A greater Frisia would be the coolest way to do this...I love a Frisiawank.

There were vikings that settled in the Netherlands. The county of Kennemerland was granted to a viking warlord for example.
