Dai Li lives

He becomes a prominent politician in ROC? I don't think he alone could lead the KMT to victory over Mao and Lai.

WI Chinese LT. General Dai Li didn't die in an airplane crash (assasination?) in 1946?
A quick google suggests he was more important as a spymaster than as a general. Is a spymaster what the KMT/GMD really need at this point?

(Of course what they really needed was competence and lack of corruption. But this isn't the ASB forum....)

Well knowing what the other guy is going to do before he moves allows you to make up for a lot when it comes to the quality of your troops or supply situation. Would even allow them to move their best troops about to meet any actions or take advantage of opportunities that present themselves.

Wasn't generalissimo quite beyond salvation at that moment? I think that even the best troops KMT has won't be enough to stave off inevitable defeat.
