Hi all,

Merely as a thought experiment (since nobody in their right mind on the Allied side would do this), how do you reckon the Allies would have fared with a landing in the Calais sector instead of Normandy, using the same techniques and forces available to them OTL in '44, assuming

a) suprise is achieved and the German reaction is slow

or

b) the Germans see it coming a mile away and act accordingly ?

Would they have managed to create, hold and expand a bridgehead, failed at the beaches on day 1 or succumbed to a counterattack a couple of days later during that big storm ?
