D.B.W.I. President Lyndon Johnson

What if Vice President Lyndon Johnson had not died of a heart attack in 1966? Could he have been elected president in 1968? He is given credit for helping guide President Kennedy's Great Society program and most of the important civil rights legislation so he would have probably continued Kennedy's program.

Not sure. Joe liked LBJ (as did Ted) and used him effectively while he was POTUS, but Bobby hated him.

What about the mess in Vietnam? The only reason the Dems won the 68 election was that their candidate was seen as an opponent to the Kennedy foreign policy.

That and the GOP decided to go with an old loser. Seriously, Nixon, again... With Goldwater and then Nixon for the second time it seems republicans just didn´t want to win elections in the 60s.
