D.B.W.I Hitler stays in power

Lets thank God that Adolph Hitler the dictator of Germany from 1933 - 1936 was overthrown. He was building up Germany's military so he obviously had plans to conquer Europe. His last blunder was to move German troops into the Rhineland in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. That shows that he intended to attack France and Belgium. When France invaded the Rhineland, he lost his credibility and lost power. He was also a determined Anti Semite. Jews had been losing their rights. If he had taken over Europe the entire Jewish population of the continent and the colonies would have been enslaved. Thankfully the restored monarchy repealed the anti Semitic laws and maintained a peaceful relationship with its neighbors.

Indeed thank god Kaiser Wilhelm was restored to his rightful throne. Had that maniac Hitler stayed in power he might have conquered all of Europe. Luckly the Monachists deposed him and that led to eventually help in topelling down all those other dictators like Mussolini in Italy and Salazar in Portugal.

Personally I think Hitler and the Nazis were nothing more than the puppets of the Junkers and conservatives. They supported him just long enough to ruin the Republic and begin rearmament. Then the moment the French and British told him he'd gone too far his supposed friends washed their hands of him and began screaming that they needed to be a monarchy again.

How convenient.

And what happened after Willhelm came home and a constitutuional monarchy was created? They began to rearm of course! The Western Allies agreed to adjust the Versailles Treaty and there was a moratorium on reparation payments. They even permitted the anschlus with Austria in '48 and the remilitarization of the Rhineland in '52. Today Germany is acknowledged both a military and political great power and without any second war.

Though naturally fear of how striong the Soviets were getting did have a lot to do with it.

My point is that Hitler was not any worse than the conservatives who eventually came out of the shadows and assumed political power in Germany. I know after he was deposed and his party lost all its support the press went out of its way to smear and ruin his name. He wrote some book with a lot of fire and brimstone images in it and the German papers had a field day telling everyone what would have happened if he'd remained in power.

Like every politican fighting for the top spot what he promised and what he would have delivered would not have recognizable. Does anyone really believe he was going to get rid of all the Jews and Slavs and then go conquer all of Russia? Haven't the hard core nationalists been saying the same thing since before there even was a Germany?

I'm not saying Hitler was another Bismark or even that he was a misunderstood savior. He was a product of his time and a shrewd and ruthless politician. But he was no worse or better than a lot of others and probably deserves more credit as a German statesman than he has gotten.

OOC: I can see Hitler possible being stopped......though, at this point, I hate to burst LOTLOF's bubble here, but no WWII is ASB by then. Granted, it won't be our WWII. Maybe it'll be delayed for some years. Maybe Mussolini also gets overthrown eventually and Italy becomes a democracy again before then. And maybe America will be allied with Germany, instead of Britain and France as per OTL.

But no WWII altogether? Again, I say, it is implausible by 1936. If you wish to avoid WWII, then WWI must be butterflied as well.

The general European war though was quite something, thank god neither side had real colonies or otherwise WW1 might've been the first of two god awful wars

Woah, what is all this? Here in the states we mostly glossed over the European War. Could someone give me a quick rundown of Hitler and Wilhelm and all the others you're talking about? We mostly just learned about how evil the Soviets were. Also, I'm on Amerinet, so no links to any non-American encyclopedia sites please.

Well, we woluldn't want you to get in trouble with the Office of Strategic Intelligence or the National Intelligence Agency...

There was a conflict in Europe before the outbreak of the Great Pacific Rim War. What's hard to get past the net nannies is the deals made between Europe and the Soviets...

OOC: ASB. The Germans who wanted to bring the Monarchy back, aka the DNVP, were no friends to the Jews. In fact they were just as anti-semitic. They wouldn't have repealed any of Hitlers anti-semitic laws. They may not have gone any further in their persecution, but they certainly wouldn't repeal any of them.

OOC: He never says when, exactly, the laws were repealed. It could be that the DNVP had a run of bad luck and gave way to a bunch of appeasers who tended to give in to international pressure after a decade or two.
