Cultural WI: Mikaela Recast in "Transformers"

Megan Fox was fired from Transformers: Dark of the Moon for publically comparing Michael Bay to Hitler, at the command of none other than Steven Spielberg himself. The scenes she'd already shot were scrapped and her character Mikaela Banes was replaced with Rosie Huntington-Whitley (sp?), who played a character loosely based on the character Carly from the 1980s cartoon.

So what if they'd simply hired a new actress to play the same character?

I would imagine the reviews of the film would be more positive, since there were a lot of criticism of Rosie's acting ability (or lack thereof). Unless the new actress is truly awful, I can't imagine the film doing significantly worse and it might do better.

I suppose if Bay/Spielberg picked another relative unknown as an actress who actually had talent, she might go on to bigger and better things afterward. Heck, if we wanted, we could suggest possible actresses and speculate as to how they might portray the character and what they might do afterward if they co-starred in a wildly successful film.

Storywise the film don't change, the two characters (Rosie and Mikela) are basically the same and the scene of one can be played by the other basically without change.
The general feeling of the film will be more genuine, even because it's hard to believe that the two separated after all they getting through and someone who can really act really help the film

I think the film would be worse as Megan Foxs' character was always very tough and doubt she would be kidnaped.

Yeah, her character wasn't the type to be kidnapped. Causing stockholme syndrome in a Decepticon puts her into bad ass territory.
