Cultural WI: A Greater United States

Alright, so let's say, as improbable, unlikely and highly difficult it is for this to happen, that the United States is comprised of the OTL US as well as Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, lower Panama, the Philippines and Japan, all as states, with Puerto Rico having opted for statehood at some point to.

What would the culture, both social and political of such a geographically, linguistically, ethnically, and socially diverse nation be like?

Do we really need Japan as a state? I can potentially accept the rest of it, but Japan--and the Philippines and Panama for that matter--really push it.

Err...Japan? A bit too much maybe. If anything after the war they could get Taiwan and then focus of attackin Mexico ad Canada if they wanted a 'Greater America'.

Well the concept is'nt so much about an expansionist America, rather in theory the largest the US could have gotten historically, Dominican Republic in the late 19th (they asked to be annexed), Haiti would most likely join as a result, Cuba and the Philippines as they were both as they were both territories of the US, lower Panama as a result of the Panama Canal Zone (where John McCain was born incidentally) and Japan since, while highly improbable, it is theoretically possible that the US could annex Japan after WW2.

Anyways, the thread's not to argue how likely the scenario is, but rather to think of what kind of culture would develop.
