What would be the cultural centers of the Mediterranean if Rome remained under Etrusc Kings and became one of the several cultural centers of this ATL ?
Don't forget MarseillesProbably Mediterranean would had divided to different influence areas. Carthage in Western Mediterranean and Eastern Mediterranean would had been dominated by Greeks and Egyptians. Etruscans would have quiet few saying for events outside of their territories.
Don't forget Anatolia (see Pontus), it's not yet entirely Greek.
I'm guessing that Hispanic would break away from Carthage at some point.
Might depend on if urban centers grow up in their colonies, who wish for more power for themselves, or who have tied themselves through marriage and alliances to local bigwigs. How? There isn't even such thing as Iberian nationalism and they were probably just bunch of several tribes. Carthage would crush any rebel there.
Then it would simply be Carthagenian (Phoenecian) culture, not "Hispanic" which in this timeline Hispanic culture won't exist as there won't be a Latin/Roman culture or language in Spain to create the Hispanic base (and the word Hispanic/Hispania comes from Latin, not a native or Carthaginian).Might depend on if urban centers grow up in their colonies, who wish for more power for themselves, or who have tied themselves through marriage and alliances to local bigwigs.
I never said it would be Hispanic or whatever. People here are likely using the term to just refer to the area as otherwise we have to get long winded about it. I do imagine the Basques and various Celtic groups will be rather more spread out. Well, if the Carthaginians don't manage to do theshat the Romans and later Goths and Franks did in wiping out or suffocating and repurposing them. Then it would simply be Carthagenian (Phoenecian) culture, not "Hispanic" which in this timeline Hispanic culture won't exist as there won't be a Latin/Roman culture or language in Spain to create the Hispanic base (and the word Hispanic/Hispania comes from Latin, not a native or Carthaginian).
