Weird thought I had: What foods would be popular in a surviving Mughal Empire?

Honestly? Not much would change from OTL- sure butter chicken is gone, but shahi paneer is there; tandoori, dal, sharbats, khichdi et al are still popular and are served around the world.

Mughlai cuisine in general I guess would be the same as OTL

Damn, that got me on the mood for some Murgh Tandoori

Why is butter chicken gone? I have no clue about the history of Indian cooking, sorry.

Depends what areas Mughal Empire would has but I don't think that there would be pretty big changes on cuisine. Perhaps lesser British influence if there even is something British influence in OTL.

The story goes that butter chicken was for the Englishman, while chicken tikka masala was for the Indian- either way, both were invented in the 20th century, either in London or New Delhi. With a surviving Mughal Empire, well, it sadly gets butterflied away.

The most change you'd see was if the surviving Mughals hold some lands outside India- that way foods brought in might fuse with traditional dishes.
