Cuba and the Philippines Successfully Achieve Independence from Spain (1799-1899)

1799-1899 was the time period when the Latin American took advantage of weakening Spanish rule on the region. What if the Philippines and Cuba would have done the same, only earlier and successful?

Assuming they manage to keep their independence they would have provided ready markets for the British to seek. And once they're in...

...Cuba is a nation of feisty spinners and the British East Indies dogged little batsman who are above New Zealand but slightly below Bangladesh in World Cricket rankings.

Novales Revolt=Massive Butterflies!

The best one is the Novales Revolt as if we succeeded in that revolt, we would be the only Westernized Latin nation in Asia at that time.

And started a discussion on Novales Revolt succeeding a while back.

Edit: Also, here is another link pertaining to the Novales Revolt.

Cuba isn't at par with the philippines. Cuba doesn't have the manpower nor resources to become indepedent of Spain not unless a great power carries majority of the load like otl. Philippines with or without great power help can be indepedent from Spain due to its larger manpower and resources, like an asian version of Mexico.

Cuba has no way to keep independencE unless assured by a great power. Philippines can be under british influence depending on pod. But if pod would be 1799, that's a lot of time to create ship of the lines for the philippines before the British can refocus on east Asia. Philippines has excellent wood and shipyards left by the spainiards in the pod would be pre industrial. Of course this would all change in favor of the British if this were later pod due to Industrial Age.

There was a reason on why Cuba cannot into independence was because Spain considered Cuba as one of its integral part like Canaries, de facto speaking, no wonder Spain refused to sell Cuba to the US in OTL. Spain rather lose Mainland Latin American and the Philippine colonies than Cuba and Puerto Rico. Heck, Spain tried to reconquer Santo Domingo! Carribean colonies were the crown jewel colonies of Spain.

Regarding the Philippines, had the British intervene in favor of Navales in exchange of having the country to be an economic vassal of the British Empire like Argentina in OTL, they could get independence.

Yes, Cuba is treated like Spain's own province. It still doesnt change the fact that Cuba doesnt have enough resource/manpower to expel the Spanish. While Philippines has enough manpower/resources to expel the Spanish. Which is the whole point of my previous post.

With regards to British participation, Philippines can acquire independence regardless of British participation. A change of heart of Novales' brother would change the course of that whole revolt from a failure into a success. Like I said, Philippines has the resources to expel the Spanish to make this happen even without Great power participation.
