CSA National Symbols?

I'm sort of working my way into doing some Alt-Confederate stuff(money, etc) and some of it might involve Timeline-191, but before I can get to it, I have to conquer these roadblocks OTL has set up me. If you guys could help me out, i'd appriciate it.

So here is my question. If the CSA survived, what would be it's national symbols, I made a list based on Wikipedia's List of official US National Symbols plus some stuff that I added.

National Bird:
National Flower:
National Tree:
National Creed:
National Fish:

Now I figured that the CSA might keep Johnny Reb as their national personifiction, but I also wondered what other variations they can try out. (Older Johnny?) But that's all I have for now for the moment. Keep me posted.

After severals years of discussions about the national symbols, of brawls between the Congessmen and the Senators with canes, of duels between them...

Some of the states will decide to secede rather to conceed their states rights about their states symbols...

The Confederate national personification might be Uncle Robert as opposed to Uncle Sam, as Robert E. Lee no matter how the CSA either wins or the USA loses the war will be the iconic Confederate.

The CS National Bird is most likely to be the red-tailed hawk.

The CS national flower probably something with the words "bonnie" and "blue" in it.

The CS national tree would be either the willow or the live oak.

The CS national creed historically was Deo Vindice.

The CS national fish would be the Shad.

Might they revive the use of the snake as an American symbol (Don't Tread on Me) seeing as how the USA has moved on to the bald eagle?

Kinda related.

Was the Bonnie Blue Flag just a Texas flag/song, or was it a whole Confederate flag/song????

The Bonnie Blue Flag was actually originally to do with the filibustered Republic of West Florida (in modern southern Alabama and Mississippi as well as the Florida panhandle) in 1810 or so. So it's definitely a Deep South thing.

It was originally the flag of West Florida (i.e. southern Alabama/Mississippi/southeastern Louisiana) so it was an already-existent symbol as Thande said. An independent CSA's history of North America could easily rope in the Republic of West Florida as a spiritual ancestor state.

:D

They did manage to avoid that on selecting their Nation Flag. And their second National Flag. And their third.

After that, Mexico would have to change their flag, for fear of implying favoritism towards the USA. :D

Not if the CSA supports Maximillion, because this is what the flag looked like during his reign.

3 nationals flags in less than 5 years !!!

What a symbol of stability and unity !!!

+ the Bonnie Blue Flag

+ the Sovereignty or Secession Flag flown in 1860

In fairness, it seems to be more a matter of the design being impractical in the field sort of bad idea than inability to agree on anything, but that's...not really reassuring either.

I nominate the Magnolia for National Tree and Flower. Heck, it might even go on a flag, or at least a seal, instead of the bird or other animal.

As for a national fish... catfish.

On a more serious note, when did these various national symbols first start popping up. I mean, you have the Eagle, Uncle Sam, etc. going back to the early 19th century in the U.S., but did we have National Trees? National Flowers? etc.

State Birds didn't come about until the 1920's, iirc.

Nah, that was why the CSA invented the various battle flags, which were used for that purpose. It was about wanting to distinguish the CSA more from the USA as the war radicalized it. Still not a good sign and a reminder of how unstable the historical Confederacy really was.
