"Hello and welcome to the election station for CSA election 1960.Im Tim Rogers for KARK-4 broadcasting out of Little Rock, Arkansas live this November 5th for this great election. We will be covering all spectrums of election day, from the first ballots being cast in Virginia to when your new President is elected.
Many of you have already decided on the candidate you will pick when you walk up to the voting booth to cast your ballot, but just in case heres a last minute cheat sheet on the major parties and there respective candidates.
Conservative-Barry Goldwater (Sn.Arizona)
The Conservatives are the party of the last president, T.Coleman Andrews. The Conservatives are strong on states rights and believe in shrinking the government to a minimum. They support the President Andrews tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, hard line segregation to the point of expelling blacks from certain areas and either taking away there vote or making it worth a fraction of the white mans vote, the death penalty, taking the KKK off the list of National terrorists, and are strong anti communists.Andrews broke the CSA's 200 year old trading pact with France when a Socialist Prime Minister was elected in the country and he turned country isolationist in recent years. They also believe in a much buffed up defense budget as the threat from Communist Cuba rises. They have lost touch with the youngest of the CSA and have become a party mainly for the wealthy and older deep southerners.
Southern Democrat-George Wallace (Gov.Alabama)
The Southern Democrats are a quickly rising party. After splitting from the Democrats in the 1958 midterms following the sharp turn right by the Andrews Administration. They are more moderate then the Conservatives, but still in the right wing spectrum. They believe in moderate segregation, but without adding anything onto it or taking it away. There much less isolationist and wish to ease tensions and renew alliances with Europe, and have actual peace talks with the U.S. They believe in a moderate sized government, and to repeal the Coleman tax cuts from 10 years to 5. They want better education standards, and to fire bad teachers and raise pay for goods ones. They also believe in an increased defense budget as there threat from Cuba rises.
They have become increasingly popular in the part of the Dems that has grown weary of the extremist Conservatives, and seem to be sneaking up on them fast and the top Democratic Party.
Populist Party-Richard Russell Jr. (Gov. Georgia)
The Populists are a party that risen from the ashes of the American farmers party following the great depression. They believe in a larger government that supports the poorest of American Citizens. They believe in extending the President Coleman tax cuts, but giving them to the poorest 10% of the CSA and raising taxes for the richest 10% of the CSA.They believe in increased Agricultural projects, and unions for all workers. They are against "The Second Slavery" or share cropping, for both blacks and whites and believe in Farmers Cooperatives to aid the farmers. They are strongly against the "corrupt banks" of the Confederacy.
They are popular amongst both whites and black farmers across the South and seem to be able to make a big splash in the next election. With the growing unemployment in the CSA it seems as if they could gain traction with the angriest of those unemployed.
Unity Party-John Tower (Sen. Texas)-
The party supports a Balanced Budget Amendment, a "Tithe Pool" to guarantee entitlements on a year-by-year basis, term limits of two terms for US Senators and four terms for US Representatives, outlawing the drawing of legislative districts along partisan lines (i.e., gerrymandering), and appointing panels of retired judges to oversee the drawing of legislative districts. The party's motto is "Not right, not left, but forward."They are the most center party in the CSA and are very popular among the non-Unionist sect of the left.
