I just got finished watching this movie on netflix has anyone else seen it and does anybody think its a wank for the CSA to occupy the North and reunite the country under Confederate rule? For those that haven't seen the film the pod has it that the French and British intervened and sent troops to the ACW thereby defeating the north. But what I found most wankish of all is that slavery managed to exist and grow even stronger to the present day.

It's a fantasy piece, pretty clearly. The Confederates didn't have the manpower or resources to do that, and neither the British nor the French had anything like an interest in open war against the Union. Foreigners did business with the CSA because there was profit in that, but that's all. If memory serves, the British government wouldn't even recognize the CSA's ambassador when he arrived.

It's not meant to be AH. It's meant to make a political point about racism- the setting is just there for impact.
